NetIP v0.3.0 - Geolocation, and a lot more!

Alright, it's almost mid-March... Is it too late to say happy new year? This new update was supposed to come out sometimes in the end of January/early February, but obviously took longer than anticipated.

Anyway, happy new year! Here's a new update of NetIP, probably the biggest so far! Let's dive in!

Info/Links

What's new?

Here's a highlight of the changes for this version. The full changelog is, as always, available on the forum and the app Home page.

Geolocation

Users can now quickly view their current geolocation using NetIP.

Users can also enable a new Taskbar Icon mode called "Country Flag" which make the NetIP icon dynamically change with your current country flag.

Multiple IP Providers

To support geolocation, NetIP also has to fetch data from IP provider that provides geolocation data. Up until now, NetIP was only fetching from icanhazip.com, which doesn't support it at all.

Users can now select their favorite IP provider from a list available in the IP Provider settings.

Other improvements & bug fixes

  • Brand-new status network icons for the interfaces list (using KDE Breeze icons), fixing the Light Theme issue al the way from v0.1.0!
  • Users can now toggle on/off their network interfaces directly from NetIP. NetIP also can now list Disabled interfaces.
  • A lot of miscellaneous fixes regarding the network interface status, speed and list ordering.

Donate

I hope you'll enjoy this patch. NetIP is provided for free along with its code source, a community forum, a website and a documentation. Needless to say, all of this takes a lot of time and work.

If you want to support this work, please consider visiting the donate page of the project. Thank you!

That's it! See you for the next update! ;)
